Renegades By Marissa Meyer Book Review

Hey everyone!! So I found another series by Marissa Meyer, Renegades, and just finished reading the first book in the series, and I’ve decided to review it for ya’ll!

I also want to wish my little brother, Boaz, a happy birthday today!! (he’s turning 8). Happy birthday dude!🥳🥳

Overview-

Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice — and in Nova. But Nova’s allegiance is to a villain who has the power to end them both.

My Thoughts-

Ok, so this was overall a pretty good book. It had some violence, but it was toned down a bit. There is some romance, but no one even kisses in this book, which was nice to find a YA book that wasn’t super intense romance for once. I personally had a couple problems with the book, (see content info) but the storyline was well put together and overall I enjoyed reading this book.

Content Info

Representation- Two of the Renegades Council Members are gay and have a adopted kid, Adrian. They are metioned frequently as his “dads” and this was mentioned many times.

Romance/Sexual Content- None. There is some hinted at chemistry between multiple characters, but literally no kissing or hand holding, etc.

Language- Minor. Things like badas* and the h word and d word. Nothing extreme. Said a few times only.

Drugs, Alcohol and Smoking- Random things mentioned about random people smoking or drinking. None of the main characters do any of this.

Violence- Grenades, guns, weapons, some death mentioned. Not too extreme at all.

Other- There is some sad background stories for many of the main characters

Book rating- 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 (5 stars)

Age Recommendation- 11+

The age recommended for this book is based off of the troubled background of some of the characters and violence in this book.

Happy reading!
